NOTICE 1

Official notice following prenotice 2nd December 2004:

Starting January 1st 2005, SIPC the Port Authority of the Port of Sohar – will charge a project cargo surcharge of US$ 1.00 (One United States Dollar only) per freight ton (W/M) on project cargoes destined for projects inside the SIP concession area Port. The surcharge is a temporary measure and will be in effect for 24 months from the start date. The surcharge will be levied on vessels calling the Port of Sohar through their shipping agent.

Project Cargoes are defined as all materials and equipment that will (temporarily) be used for the construction of projects inside the SIP concession area.

Pipes and related equipment for pipelines outside the SIP concession area will not be affected by the surcharge. Cargoes for receivers/shippers outside the SIP concession area will also not be affected by the surcharge.

Procedure

Shipping agents are requested to submit cargo and receiver details for all vessels calling Sohar on and after January 1st 2005 to SIPC by sending a certified copy of the vessel’s cargo manifest to SIPC Sohar Office / attention Harbor Master at least 72 hours prior to ETA. The agent is requested to accompany the cargo manifest with a letter on its own letterhead stating the freight tons and full consignee / receiver details.

In case shipping agents are in doubt whether the cargo is subject to the surcharge, SIPC Muscat Office / Commercial Manager can be contacted in writing only at least 72 hours prior to ETA stating the full details of the consignee and /or full details of the notifying party according to the bill of ladings of the representative (Contact: jaap.van.dalen@portofsohar.com).

If applicable, SIPC will raise the project cargo surcharge invoice to the vessel through the agent. In principle this invoice is payable prior to the vessel’s departure but a deposit arrangement can be discussed.

NOTICE 2

Adjustment on Port Dues for dry cargo in Sohar; 23rd February 2005

SIPC announces that Port Dues to be assessed on vessels carrying dry cargo calling the Port of Sohar will be reduced from US$ 0.225 per Gross Ton (GT) of the vessel to US$ 0.045 per GT as per January 1st 2005 until further notice.

NOTICE 3

Line handling boat for mooring at liquid jetties

Effective immediately the SIPC Harbour Master office in close coordination with marine service provider & pilot, has decided that a Line Handling Boat will be on standby to possibly assist in mooring tankers at the jetties for liquid cargo in the Port of Sohar.

The costs related to the service and or standby of this Line Handling Boat are USD 300 per hour with a minimum of two hours.

This decision will be enforced immediately until further notice.

NOTICE 4

Multiple Port Calls

Port Dues will be levied on a vessel each and every time it enters the Port of Sohar. However, if vessels depart from the Port of Sohar to the Sohar designated anchorage and return to the Port of Sohar again, this will be regarded from the "port dues perspective" as one call, provided that:

  1. The second port entry is to complete cargo operations of the previous call to the port and
  2. The second port entry takes place within 120 hours after the first entry to the port

The duration of stay will be counted from the 1st entry to the port (including the waiting time at the anchorage).

This decision will be enforced starting from 1st October 2006.

 

NOTICE 5

Notice on Port Dues, Port of Sohar; 28th November 2006

Since January 1st, 2005, SIPC – the Port Authority of the Port of Sohar – charges a Project Cargo Surcharge of US$ 1.00 (One United States Dollar only) per freight ton (W/M) on project cargoes relating to projects inside the SIP concession area.

We would like to inform you that the surcharge will also be applicable in 2007 and 2008. The surcharge will be levied on vessels calling Port of Sohar through the shipping agent.

Please note that this surcharge applies to both materials / cargoes entering construction sites and materials / cargoes leaving construction sites. Once a site is no longer a construction site (implying that full rent is being paid to SIPC), the Project Cargo Surcharge will no longer be levied.

This notice will replace the notice in the Port Guide Sohar, dated June 01, 2006 (Annex 1)

 

NOTICE 6

Port dues for Car Carriers; 10th September 2007

SIPC announces that with immediate effect the Port Dues to be assessed on (RoRo) vessels carrying vehicles calling the Port of Sohar will be US$ 0.025 per Gross Ton (GT) of the vessel until further notice.

Since January 1st, 2005, SIPC - the Port Authority of the Port of Sohar - charges a Project Cargo Surcharge of US$ 1.00 (One United States Dollar only) per freight ton (W/M) on project cargoes relating to projects inside the SIP concession area.

Please note that this surcharge applies to both materials / cargoes entering construction sites and materials / cargoes leaving construction sites. Once a site is no longer a construction site (implying that full rent is being paid to SIPC), the Project Cargo Surcharge will no longer be levied.

Notice on SIPC PORT AREA EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN, 31st March 2010
 
 

INTRODUCTION

 

I. The Sohar Port Authority is responsible for ensuring that a safe and efficient environment is maintained for vessels and cargo operations.

II. The SIPC Port Area Emergency Response Plan is an addition to the general SIPC Incident Response plan. It establishes specified principles in the event of an incident or disaster occurring. It outlines the responsibility of those personnel involved in its implementation and provides information on resources available.

Notice on Anchorage dues, 16th of June 2010

 

 

 

 

SIPC announces that with immediate effect the Port of Sohar will charge the following Anchorage Dues;
 
Anchorage area A:  This area is assigned as a waiting area for vessels waiting for Sohar port area berthing instructions. (Coordinates 24 34.0 N 056 38.0 E, 24 34.0 N 056 40.0 E, 24 37.0 N 056 40.0 E, 24 37.0 N 056 38.0 E)
0 – 5 days         free of charge
6 – 15 days       USD 390 per day or any part there of.
16 – 20 days      USD 780 per day or any part there of.
21 – 25 days      USD 1300 per day or any part there of.
> 25 days          USD 1950 per day or any part there of.
 
Anchorage area B:  This area is assigned as an area for long period layup, Repairs, Crew handling, Stores. (Coordinates24 34.0 N 056 42.0 E, 24 37.0 N 056 42.0 E, 24 34.0 N 056 40.0 E, 24 37.0 N 056 40.0 E)
0 – 5 days         free of charge
6 – 15 days       USD 390 per day or any part there of.
16 – 20 days      USD 780 per day or any part there of.

Bunkering:        Vessels up to LOA 160 meters:    USD 1000 per day or any part there of.
Vessel over LOA 160 meters:      USD 0, 19 per GRT per day or any part there of.

For vessels calling anchorage for clearing purposes only:
USD 350 per call.


 

General information:

Any vessel that uses the Sohar anchorage area and leaves the area prior the first five free days will not be allowed back for a minimum period of ten days there after, as to be eligible for another five day free period.

If the vessel return before ten days has passed, then time will start counting immediately as if the vessel has already been at the anchorage for five days.

This rule is in place to ensure fair usage of the anchorage area and will ensure no party misuses the five days free given, based on the intention to leave the anchorage and then return free shortly there after for numerous times.

Any vessel that leaves the area for more than ten days are eligible to start fresh with free time subject to a maximum of two call periods where after the same rule above will apply and time will start counting as if the vessel has not left the anchorage and full charges will be charged. (5 days free / 10 days away / 5 days free / 10 days away / any return will then there after be at full charges as if vessel has been at anchor for 10 days.)

Notice on Port Dues, Port of Sohar; 11th December 2010

NOTICE 11

 

 

Notice on Ship to Ship-operations (STS), Port of Sohar; 7th February, 2011

:

 

SIPC announces that STS operations services are available for all vessels calling the port.

STS-operations are executed by and under the supervision of the fender supplier.

The fender supplier is responsible for safe operations, proper mooring and supervision of operations via the mooring master. Referred costs are invoiced to the fender service supplier.

 

Vessels up to 45.000 GRT:             USD 15000 per operation, including marine services

                                                        and port dues

Vessel over 45.000 GRT:                USD 0, 35 per GRT per operation

 

STS operations are subject to harbour Master approval taking into consideration the weather, technical, operational and safety procedures.
